DIY Cinnamon Pinecones with essential oils

Love the smell of cinnamon in the fall? Making your own scented pinecones is an easy DIY project that adds a cozy seasonal touch to your home. With a few pinecones and cinnamon essential oil, you can create a simple decoration for a centerpiece, bowl, or fall display.

How to Make Cinnamon Pinecones with Essential Oils

You don't need many supplies for this project, and you can use pinecones you've collected outdoors or purchased from a craft store.

What You'll Need

• Clean, completely dry pinecones
• Cinnamon essential oil
• A large sealable bag or container
• Parchment paper or a protected work surface

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare your pinecones. If you've collected them outdoors, brush away dirt and debris and inspect them for insects. Allow them to dry completely before using.
2. Add the cinnamon scent. Place your pinecones on a protected surface and carefully add one drop of cinnamon essential oil to each pinecone. Start with less and add more only if needed.
3. Seal and store. Place the pinecones in a large sealable bag or container and close it.
4. Let the scent develop. Leave the pinecones sealed for a day or two, then check the scent.
5. Display and enjoy. Arrange your scented pinecones in a decorative bowl, basket, or fall centerpiece.

Tip: When the scent begins to fade, you can refresh your pinecones with a small amount of essential oil.

Safety note: Cinnamon essential oil is concentrated and can irritate skin. Avoid direct contact with the oil, wash your hands after handling, and keep scented pinecones away from children and pets. Do not use them near flames, candles, or other heat sources. They are for decoration only.
